Mosquito Misting System Maintenance

For best results, follow the below outline to maintain your mosquito misting system to keep it running for many years to come. For any questions or issues, please contact us for assistance.

Refilling your mosquito misting system

Once a system has run empty, it will need to be re-filled to continue working. The systems do not shut off on their own when empty, but the pump is built to be able to run dry for short intervals without damage. Although we don’t recommend letting it run on empty for long, a few days or weeks will not damage to pump.

To refill the system, simply fill the drum halfway with water, add in the desired product as the label dictates, and top of the tank with water until it is full.

If the system was totally or almost empty, it may need to be “burped” to relieve negative pressure caused by an air bubble. Simply disconnect the 1/4 inch tubing where it connects to the system, stand back, and run a quick spray cycle. As soon as the misting solution beings spraying out, the system has been burped and you can retun the tubing to the fitting and carry on as normal.

Other General Maintenance for Mosquito Misting Systems

Replacing Nozzle Tips

Nozzles will clog up over time, due to a mixture of hard water deposits and residue build up. Replacing nozzle tips over time is a key part of mosquito misting system maintenance, and luckily it can be done fairly easily, with no tools, in just minutes. When you have noticed a nozzle no longer spraying, simply unscrew the nozzle tip from the adaptor, and screw the new nozzle in place.

Checking The Intake Filter

Similar to the nozzles, the intake filter that sits down in the tank can get clogged over time. To clean your puck up filter, simply remove it from the tank and rinse the filter with clean water (usually from a nearby garden hose) and once it is clean, place it back into the tank.

Cleaning The Tank

Once a year, the tank should be cleaned to ensure that any reseduie or build up doesnt make its way into the filter or the nozzles. Tp clean your tank, wait untill it has gone nearly empty through normal use, and scrub the sides and bottom with a brush and clean water with some regular dish soap. Once this has been done, place the systems intake filter into a bucket of clean water with dish soap and run the system manually through a few cycles to clean out the tubing.

Winterizing The Misting System

To prepare for winter, we recommend winterizing your systems before the years first hard freeze. Disconnect the 1/4 inch tubing that goes out to the nozzles as well as the intake tube, and run the pump dry for 15 seconds (Be sure to stand clear so you don’t get sprayed). Now that the pump is dry and any remaining liquid has drained out of the nozzle circuit, simply unplug the system and firmly cover it with the included weather cover.
